Marshall and Edna Branstool began growing fruit in 1980. Our first orchard was planted with 1500 peach trees on 11 acres rented from Marshall’s father and uncle. At that time, Marshall was a machinist in town while Edna stayed home to raise two young healthy boys; Tyler and Alex.
As the young trees came into fruition, the peaches were sold under a 20'×20' tent along the highway. After several successful crops Marshall realized that growing fruit was his real passion. In 1993, a neighboring farm was purchased with 68 acres of ideal fruit growing soil, we subsequently planted 2000 more trees. Excluding the crop killing subzero temperatures of the winter of 1994 and 2009, we have been fortunate in having excellent growing conditions at our orchard. The Ohio climate produces high quality, great tasting, tree ripened peaches and apples.
In 1995 we traded in our roadside tent for a permanent roadside fruit market. In 1997, Edna received her nursing degree and is now a registered nurse. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Central Ohio Technical college. Edna’s successful career and the demands for increased fruit production allowed Marshall to quit his factory job and become a full time horticulturalist. Marshall is a member of the International Fruit Tree Association which allows him to travel to forward thinking and experimental orchards in the United States and abroad.
Today Branstool Orchards consists of 5000 peach trees, 2500 apple trees, and 700 cherry trees. We also have several pumpkin and sunflower plantings. We encourage you to visit our beautiful orchard and enjoy some of our wonderful home grown produce.
